Grasping at straws when the problem for many kids is that most developmental milestones are pushed forward too much, thus making it seem as if the children are delayed when they really are just not developmentally ready. Most kids were not meant to refine small motor skills so early (in kindergarten) , such as holding a pencil and writing on lines-so hey- let’s give them OT. It’s connected. If kids don’t naturally develop the large motor skills and sensory motor sills that come naturally through play, they are going to have problems. Let kids play and be kids. That would certainly help decrease this new surge for prescribing OT.
