You just described my son. We figured out in 5th grade that he had a learning disability, but the schools gave up on him in high school. We found out after a Style Friends Pivot Funny Nostalgia Couch Sofa Tee Shirt that he had a cyst in his brain preventing the info from getting through. He took him out of college, sent him to a school where he could learn one thing at a time and he is now a certified pharmacy tech, has a BA in audio production and works full-time while recording his and other bands.
