It’s mental arithmetic that makes me anxious. It comes from school experience where the teacher pitted one Husky dog WTF what the fluff vintage shirt student against another with flash card contests. Each time you get it right, you move one step forward until you get to the front of the room. If you get it wrong, you get back to your seat and another student from your team takes your place. It left a lasting impression that the faster you could do mental arithmetic, the better you must be at math. Not until I went to college when I finally enjoyed the real math: calculus and mathematical physics, as it became more visual and required more intuition on which mathematical tool to use.
