Then go around to the Front of the Cathedral and take in Jackson Square. You can walk across the street and perk up with some coffee and beignets at Cafe Dumonde and then walk along the river to Gov. Nicholls or Ursulines, walk back lake-bound up to the LaLaurie Mansion and listen in on the tour groups telling stories of the haunted mansion. Then up to bourbon, turn right (or left…can’t remember) and head to Lafitte’s Blacksmith shop – the oldest bar in North America. Have yourself a daquiri if it’s hot, or a Hurricane. It’s also haunted. Then walk towards Esplanade on Bourbon and hook right at Esplanade, then left at Royal and hit the R Bar. Every Friday round 6ish they serve up Jambalaya or crawfish or other treats for tips. Then round the corner is Frenchmen street, and a plethora of great jazz and other music clubs. Eat some street food. Listen to that youth band that plays on the corner, make sure to tip everyone.
