I either climb the shelf, or find something long to shimmy item to the edge and over, or reach up underneath the Country Roads Take Me Home Retro Funny Farmer to finger the item forward. If that fails, find the nearest tall person. Now this is where my cane is an invaluable tool, using my non-dominant hand, I knock the item off the shelf and catch it. Glass jars are a bit challenging.
