There is zero way out of this without significantly higher Horse I Love This Post shirt and/or cuts to entitlements. Social Security and Medicare make up the vast majority of the budget and they are not anywhere near close to funded by the payroll taxes designed to pay for it. The ballooning cost of those programs has and is increasing the deficit in a big way and that’s before we throw in a few trillion being blown away in a poorly handled pandemic. My personal opinion we need the capital gains tax hiked probably 5% and the cap on taxable payroll income removed at a minimum.
