Steal Team Six If You Ain’t Cheating, You Ain’t Trying Shirt
These celebrations pre-date Christianity, often by millennia, and were going on while Steal Team Six If You Ain’t Cheating, You Ain’t Trying Shirt gradually took over Europe. Church leaders, wanting their congregations to practice Christianity exclusively, probably realized they’d be unable to stop people from having fun, so they concocted a story that Jesus was born, conveniently, right around the solstice. There is NO biblical justification for this, nor historical nor archaeological. It was just made up so that people could do something Christian while continuing their long-beloved pagan rituals.
