As long as he votes the way Mitch tells him to, and pays the appropriate lip service to Jesus, Freedom, Our Brave Men In Uniform, and the Arkansas Razorbacks Wooooo Pig Sooie!, he could praise slavery as a great character-building exercise and his political career would still be safe.
