We swung from strict teaching/parenting to soft teaching/parenting and failed to balance it out with opportunities to develop resilience, healthy work ethic, and the ability to deal with failure or discomfort. I think that has played a huge role in having a generation of adolescents, and adults my age now, who can’t handle being given negative feedback in any capacity and who label themselves depressed upon finding out that outside of school.
